John Evans has 23 years' experience of teaching mathematics at Mount Temple school in Dublin and is a former chairman of the NCCA Senior Cycle Mathematics Syllabus Committee.
He co-ordinated the NAME Project, an innovative IT project supported by the Department of Education and Science, Eircom (Telecom Eireann), Apple Computers and the Irish Maths Teachers' Association, designed to provide online materials to promote mathematics teaching and learning.
John has recently completed a PhD study of the impact of technology and industrialisation on the Irish education system, and is preparing a book for publication based on this research.
He is a partner in the multimedia firm Mimesis (www.mimesis.net), which has prepared online sample examination questions and tutorials in mathematics, Irish, and English to assist Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate students.
