Two men, charged with robbing an elderly Co Galway brother and sister of £29,000 on St Valentine's night, appeared before Galway District Court yesterday and were remanded in custody until March 8th.

Mr Gary Moloney, Cuba Avenue, Banagher, Co Offaly, and Mr John Edward Duffy, Lissanacody, Eyrecourt, Co Galway, are charged with robbing Mr Michael Moran (78) and his sister, Eileen (76), who live in an isolated cottage at Abbeylands, outside Eyrecourt, of £29,000 cash after their home was broken into in the early hours of February 14th.

Both men were arrested the following day in Galway city after a shop assistant became suspicious of the poor condition of money used by the men to buy goods.
