Eye On Nature

I saw frog-spawn in a puddle on a track near Oughterard. We were surprised because this was on New Year's Eve.

It is early for frog-spawn, but it can be found even in December in mild winters. There is a record of it being found in Co Kerry on December 22nd, but winters in the south are milder than further north.
