The Pentagon has confirmed reports of an explosion near a US army base south of Tokyo today.
The Japanese Kyodo News Agency reported that police had found parts of a "launch pad" near a US army base, Camp Zama.
Authorities say a "guerrilla attack" is suspected of the attack. It is not clear whether there were injuries or damage.
