Atlanta - John Ehrlichman, a former adviser to the late US president Richard Nixon has died, aged 73. He served 18 months in prison for his role in the Watergate coverup. Ehrlichman, who had diabetes, died on Sunday of natural causes at his home in Atlanta, his son Mr Tom Ehrlichman said last night.

Born in Tacoma, Washington, on March 20, 1925, Ehrlichman was an Eagle Scout who earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal clusters as a lead navigator in the 8th Air Force during the second World War.
