A senior UK health service administrator is set to be appointed as the new chairman of Tallaght hospital in Dublin, writes MARTIN WALL

Sir Keith Pearson has been nominated by Church of Ireland Archbishop Michael Jackson of Dublin to the board of the hospital.

The Department of Health said yesterday that, subject to election by the board, Sir Keith will be the new independent chair of Tallaght Hospital Board following a major restructuring of its governance arrangement

Minister for Health James Reilly welcomed the nomination.

The Department of Health said that Sir Keith had more than 30 years’ experience working in the healthcare sector. Sir Keith has held appointments in the British National Health Service dating back to 1998 and is also a former senior executive of health insurance company Bupa.
