Euro zone retail sales fell by 0.5 per cent in June from May and were down 0.9 per cent year-on-year, the EU statistics office Eurostat said this morning.
Economists had predicted euro zone retail sales would fall by 0.2 per cent in June from May and by 0.3 per cent year-on-year.
Eurostat said it revised down the euro zone's May month-on-month rise to 0.3 per cent from 0.4 per cent and left May's year-on-year rise unchanged at 0.7 per cent.
