The European Parliament today reiterated that it wanted a say in drafting legislative measures to fight terrorism, chiding the 15 EU member states for a lack of consultation so far.

At issue in a resolution passed today was a list of terrorist organisations and individuals associated with terrorism that was adopted by the European Union in December.

The list, a key component in planned measures to fight terrorism, was adopted on December 27th without consulting parliament.

In today’s resolution, the MEPs said they wanted to be fully involved in any such measures implemented by the EU.

The resolution "reminded" the council "of the full support expressed by parliament in the fight against terrorism and of its wish to be fully involved in the legislative process aimed at strengthening the union's ability to fight terrorism."
