More than 1,000 local authority engineers are to ballot for strike action because they say they are not being consulted adequately over changes in management structures. Their ballot is to take place over the next two weeks.

If the strike goes ahead projects like the Dublin port tunnel, Luas and the Cork tunnel will be affected.
