Emergency air service sought

A group lobbying for a dedicated air emergency service brought a £5

A group lobbying for a dedicated air emergency service brought a £5.5 million German helicopter to Dublin yesterday to highlight the need for the service.

The National Helicopter Emergency Medical Services Steering Committee, made up of doctors and army officers, said Ireland is the only European country without a dedicated emergency air service.

The helicopter landed at St Vincent's Hospital, Dublin yesterday afternoon. The group is lobbying for four helicopters to be based in Dublin, Belfast, Cork and Knock.
