An elderly woman, Miss Nora Parrot (77), died in a fire in Limerick early yesterday. The woman, who lived alone, was overcome by fumes when fire broke out in the living room of her two-storey house in Lr Carey's Road at 1.15 a.m. i went to the scene. However, when fire fighters got to the woman, she had already been overcome by smoke. The body was removed to Limerick Regional Hospital where a post-mortem examination was carried out.
Three units of the fire service, aided by farmers, fought a blaze in Lisnagry, Co Limerick, which completely destroyed a barn full of hay at the weekend.
