EGYPT: Scores of angry Egyptians have protested in Cairo against United States and British threats of war on Iraq, with one calling for burning the US embassy if Baghdad is attacked. A massive police presence outside a Cairo mosque yesterday kept the relatively small crowd in check.

"Once the bombs fall on Baghdad, we will burn the US embassy," Mohamed Fareed Hassanein, an opposition member of parliament, shouted as hundreds of riot police stood by with shields and clubs.

The protest involving fewer than 100 people was staged about a block from the US embassy.

The protesters denounced President Bush as a "dog and enemy of God" for his policy toward Iraq and the Palestinians while they shouted : "Bin Laden, go ahead, hit Tel Aviv."
