For UCC's food process engineering degree course, students must have a minimum of a higher-level C in Leaving Cert maths or applied maths. If the C is in applied maths, a higher-level D2 in maths is also required.

In addition to the maths requirement, students must have passes in four other subjects at higher or ordinary level including Irish, English, another language, a lab science subject or agricultural science and one other subject required for matriculation.
