Last week on this page we expressed concern that some parents might be unaware that a number of colleges included in the 1998 CAO handbook are in fact fee-paying. Some of the colleges say they are aware of the problem. The American College, Dublin, promises that in February it intends writing to everyone who has applied to the college through the CAO to remind them that the college is fee-paying. This will give applicants the opportunity to withdraw and submit a change of mind form to the CAO.
Clarification: The DIT's degree-awarding status will be introduced in the 1998/99 academic year. Our report on this page last week referred to that year. We regret any confusion.
