THE Film Institute of Ireland is keen to let teachers know about its education programme, which includes a screening of the 1974 version of The Great Gatsby on Monday next week at 10.30 a.m. and also on Monday, February 10th at the same time. The screening will be introduced by the FII's education department and followed by a discussion on the adaptation of novels into film. Students will be charged £2, while there is no charge for teachers. There is "a hunger on the part of teachers for film-related events," according to Tony Tracy, FII education officer.

A documentary on the development of Irish cinema, followed by a lecture on film studies will be presented on the first Thursday of every month. Group bookings are available.

Tracy says the FII's education department welcomes suggestions for screenings or themes of study. For details contact (01) 679 5744.
