Waterford Institute of Technology Open DayWaterford Institute of Technology's open day today will provide school students with an opportunity to sample college life in Waterford before making their final CAO college entry choices.

Some 2,500 prospective students are expected to attend the open day along with almost 100 teachers and guidance counsellors.

Representatives from a range of the institute's student clubs and societies will provide information on a cross-section of the extra-curricular activities. There will also be information about on- and off-campus accommodation options. For more information visit www2.wit.ie

Trinity College's open day, which will include over 70 presentations on its wide range of undergraduate courses, takes place tomorrow from 9am to 3pm. All sixth-year students, mature students, guidance counsellors and parents are invited to attend.

In addition to the presentations, there will be information stands attended by academic staff and students, tours of facilities such as the Dental Hospital, the School of Nursing and Midwifery, science laboratories and tours of the TCD campus. This year's open day also includes tours of Trinity's engineering laboratories and a new series of science talks.

During the day there will be presentations on various aspects of the Trinity Access Programme, special presentations for mature students, teachers, guidance counsellors and parents as well as information about support services for students with disabilities.

Irish Mathematics Teachers Association Course

The Cork Branch of the Irish Mathematics Teachers Association are organising a five-week course for teachers beginning at the end of January 2007. Five Leaving Certificate topics will be covered. UCD Smurfit School of Business lMBA scholarships

UCD's Michael Smurfit School of Business is launching a series of new scholarships for the 2007/8 academic year. A total of 11 scholarships - each worth €15,000 - will be offered to candidates applying for the full-time MBA programme. The application deadline for prospective students is March 16th, 2007.

One "creativity" scholarship will go to the candidate who best exemplifies creativity in business. The school will also offer a series of regional merit scholarships: one for six different regions of the world including Central and Eastern Europe, Western Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia and Australasia and North and Central America. In addition four scholarships will be awarded to students scoring above 700 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
