Royal Irish Academy Gold Medals 2006: The Royal Irish Academy has just announced a call for nominations for the 2006 Academy Gold Medals.
In 2006, one medal will be awarded in the engineering sciences and one in the social sciences. The recipients will be among Ireland's foremost thinkers in these disciplines.

Teaching Fair for Education Students at UL
The University of Limerick will host a teaching fair for education students at the university tomorrow from noon to 3pm. The event takes place in EGO 10 (main campus building) and is organised by the careers service, co-operative education and careers division.

New Master's Degree in Public Advocacy and Activism
A new Master's degree in Public advocacy and activism at NUI, Galway is inviting applications (deadline Friday, April 28th) for September 2006. The one-year, multidisciplinary course is an advanced programme for those working, or intending to work, in advocacy, internationally and locally, in areas including community organisation, development, labour, rights, health and environment.

Introduction to University Programme for Post-Primary Students at UL
The University of Limerick is offering students a summer Introduction to University Programme (IUP). The programme is designed to help students decide between a range of career and third-level course options while also gaining first-hand experience of university life.
Students experience a number of academic areas including: law, business and management systems; architecture; engineering including manufacturing, mechanical, electronic and aeronautical; science and medical sciences including physiotherapy and nursing; humanities including music and dance, new media studies and liberal arts; education including teaching education programmes. Other areas covered include: social and cultural aspects of a university, learning and study skills; exploring career options; career workshops.

Cork Mechanical, Manufacturing and Aerospace Engineering Exhibition
Ireland's largest educational engineering exhibition, with the theme for this year - "Innovating and Designing the Entrepeneurial World - Engineers on the Move", takes place in the Courtyard, Student Centre, Cork Institute of Technology on Thursday, April 6th and Friday, April 7th. Exhibition opening times for schools and the general public 9.45am to 12.45pm and 2pm to 4.30pm on Thursday and 9.30am to 12.30pm on Friday. Admission is free to all who wish to attend.
