I couldn't believe what I was reading recently when an Irish women's magazine declared that once a woman becomes a mother, she can never be seen as "sexy" again - by herself or anyone else. That anyone could believe that old load of rubbish in the year 2001 is depressing. If I had just had a baby and read that article, I think I would have gone for the giant-sized Mars bar and a day spent weeping under the covers. Thank you Goddess for the March edition of Vogue which sets the record straight: motherhood is as sexy as it gets, girls. First they have new mother Catherine Zeta-Jones on the cover, looking amazing and - sexy.
Very. But it gets better: inside there's a fashion spread of a model who is "tough, sexy and charged with Eighties attitude". She also happens to be photographed in breastfeeding mode with her baby while modelling Giorgio Armani, giving new purpose to the "plungeneck top". The image is strong, dignified, lovely and - sexy. Makes you wonder: if the Department of Health and Children started a pro-breastfeeding campaign with the line "breastfeeding is sexy", would more women try it?
