A textbook by two Irish teachers is now being used by first-year university students in Britain. It is also used in Ireland by Leaving Cert engineering students and by third-level students in engineering technician and manufacturing technology courses.
New Engineering Technology is the fourth textbook by Liam Hennessy (left), of UL, and Lawrence Smyth, of the Community School, Falcarragh, Co Donegal. The book was originally published by the Educational Company of Ireland. The latest version, which covers topics such as mechanical testing, non-destructive testing, metrology, joining, materials and various forming and cutting processes, is published by Stanley Thornes of Cheltenham.
