The archeologists behind a new education pack which has sent free to every primary and second-level school in the State are delighted by teachers' response. Discovering the Bronze Age, is aimed at fifth and sixth primary classes and first and second year second-level students. Designed as a complete course with teacher's notes, teaching suggestions or class activities and a series of work-cards for students, it is available in English or Irish. The idea is the result of a close liaison between the Blackrock Teachers' Centre and the Discovery Programme, a body dedicated to pure archeological research. The pack is designed to fit in with the new history curriculum and with the "roots in ancient civilisations" module in particular.

"We've been delighted at the response from schools, at their complimentary remarks and their orders for additional copies," says Ronan O'Flaherty, programme manager of The Discovery Programme. Extra copies of the pack are available at a unit cost of £10 (including VAT and post/packaging) at The Discovery Programme, 13-15 Hatch Street Lower, Dublin 2.
