ECB to hold council meeting in Dublin

The European Central Bank (ECB) said it will hold meetings of its governing council in Dublin and Vienna next year.

The European Central Bank (ECB) said it will hold meetings of its governing council in Dublin and Vienna next year.

The ECB holds two council meetings a year away from its Frankfurt headquarters, and it said that next year its May 10th meeting will be hosted by the Irish central bank in Dublin, while the Austrian National Bank will host the October 4th meeting in Vienna.

In 2007, council meetings will generally continue to be held on the first and third Thursday of each month, with interest rate decisions being taken at the first of the two monthly meetings.

"Obviously, if warranted by the circumstances, the governing council can still decide to change the key ECB interest rates at any time, regardless of previously scheduled meetings," it said.
