A Dutch aircraft, carrying 281 passengers, which was forced to make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport yesterday was unable to resume its journey this morning because of further technical difficulties.
The Martin Air 767 Boeing aircraft declared an emergency some 200 miles off the Irish coast after the crew reported a "strong smell of chemicals" on board.
The aircraft was rerouted to Shannon, the nearest available airport, where it made an emergency landing.
The plane was due to resume its journey this morning but it understood to have remained grounded due to technical difficulties.

A relief plane is due in Shannon later today and is scheduled to take the passengers to Miami this evening.
