Graeme Souness has tried to ward off interest in Damien Duff by insisting the Blackburn winger is not for sale.
A number of clubs, including Liverpool, are said to be lining up a Stg£10million bid for the Republic of Ireland star this summer.
Souness claims they will be wasting their time because Duff will not be leaving Ewood Park.
The Rovers manager said: "We have not been contacted by anyone about selling Damien Duff.
"He's not for sale. We're in a very, very fortunate position because we're not a selling club.
"So he's not going anywhere, end of story."
Duff has been a revelation for club and country in recent months and, following the Republic's midweek win over the USA, American goalkeeper and Rovers team-mate Brad Friedel claimed he was one of the best wingers in the world.
Souness was also glowing in his praise of the 23-year-old and he feels he has a big future ahead of him _ with Blackburn.
"He excites people, he runs at people, he's very direct, he can dribble and he wants to do well," he said.
"I would say he can only get better because of the type of boy he is.
"He's not going to let anything cloud his ambition. He's not going to be turned by stories linking him with other teams.
"His head is not going to be turned by people saying nice things about him.
"He's a very down to earth, solid guy and I think he's destined for greatness because other than injury I can't see anything stopping that because his head will not be turned."
