Firefighters have got a fire which destroyed three north Dublin warehouses overnight under control.

Firefighters have got a fire which destroyed three north Dublin warehouses overnight under control.

The fire in the Tolka Industrial Estate, Ballybogan Road, Glasnevin, broke out at about 3.45am, according to gardaí.

Nine units of the fire brigade tackled the blaze at its height. The fire caused thick smoke in the area and lead to a number of road and rail line closures.

The fire was in the Protim Abrasives premises which housed extremely flammable substances. According to the company's website it specialises in timber treatment, woodcare products and the elimination of rising damp.

Ballybogan Road and Broombridge Road remain closed this morning and the fire brigade are still at the scene. The spokesman said an investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.

No injuries were reported and the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Fire inspectors have already begun preliminary investigations into the cause.
