The Irish Government has paid a total of £740,057 sterling towards the cost of the multi-party talks in the North. This covered the period from June 1996 to February 1997.
Responding to a question from the Ulster Unionist Party deputy leader, Mr John Taylor, in the House of Commons, the Northern Secretary, Dr Mo Mowlam, said the two governments were bearing an equal share of the running costs of the talks, excluding those in respect of Strand One (relations within Northern Ireland).
