Mobile Travel Technologies, a Dublin-based firm that specialises in travel bookings through mobile phones, has signed a deal with the Hilton Hotel group.
Under the deal Hilton customers can used their phone to make or amend a booking while application will also advise them as to the closest Hilton and how to get to it.
The system works on all mobile phone types and in all languages, including Japanese, and a dedicated version for iPhone users has been developed with a downloadable application available shortly from the iTunes/iPhone App Store.
The system has been launched initially in the UK and Germany but Gerry Samuels, founder and executive director of the firm, it could be used from any country. For example by someone based in Ireland seeking to stay at one of the Hilton’s Irish hotels could use it to make a booking.
Among the company’s other clients are Qantas airline’s subsidiary Jetstar. MTT also has clients in Japan, which Mr Samuels says is among the most advanced mobile markets in the world.
Mr Samuels declined to provide a value or a duration for the deal saying he did not want to reveal this data to competitors.
He also declined to state how many people were employed by MTT, other than saying it has its head office in Dublin, marketing operations in the UK and support services based in Asia and the US.
MTT is a high potential start-up with Enterprise Ireland.
