Siptu held a meeting of Dublin Bus drivers today to outline new settlement terms put forward by the Labour Court on the proposed cost-cutting plan.
Yesterday, the Labour Court said Dublin Bus could proceed with plans to cut 120 buses from its fleet.
Siptu said "considerable improvements" had been made to the original cost-cutting proposals, but warned that dispute resolution procedures had been exhausted.
The Labour Court made a number of recommendations, including that weekend overtime earning potential for drivers be increased, and that no changes be made to current shift pay arrangements. The recommendations did include changes to current paid meal break arrangements for drivers.
it also said that service reductions should be completed by April 26th.
Speaking before the meeting, branch organiser Wilie Nooone said it was too early to predict if drivers would accept the Labour Court proposals.
"I believe there is a certain amount of discomfiture with the drivers; it's very hard to vote for something that is going to worsen your conditions," he said.
"However I believe that the members are pragmatic, they know the economic situation of the company and the country at the moment. I believe that they'll give the proposals serious consideration."
About 37 drivers attended today's meeting in Liberty Hall. A ballot on the proposals is to take place on April 7th.
