Gardaí in Co Meath are searching for two men who carried out an armed robbery on a pharmacy in Dunboyne this afternoon.

The two men entered the shop in the Yeats Centre on the Navan Road at around 4.30pm with scarves and caps hiding their faces.

One was armed with a handgun while the second was carrying a knife. They forced a staff member to open a safe and removed what a Garda spokesman said was a large quantity of controlled drugs.

They also stole a small amount of cash before making their escape in a red or wine-coloured Renault Clio.

There were no shots fired and no injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dunboyne Garda Station on 01 8252211.
