Drivers accused of not respecting dead

A Donegal undertaker has criticised the public for showing disrespect for the dead

A Donegal undertaker has criticised the public for showing disrespect for the dead. Pascal Blake has been a funeral director in Letterkenny for almost 20 years, but now he has slammed drivers for overtaking funerals, beeping horns and disrupting corteges.

“There is just no respect from a lot of people these days. People don’t care if a funeral cortege is going through their town. They beep their horns and overtake funeral corteges. It has simply changed over the years. People are so busy and in a rush with their own lives that they don’t care about the dead any more.” Mr Blake claimed some motorists had even tried to run over his staff rather than stop for a cortege.
