A lorry driver, in custody on a charge of dangerous driving causing death, is to ask the High Court next week to reduce a £40,000 bail bond set by the District Court.

Mr James Donohoe, solicitor for Mr Victor Teggart, of Green Acre, Market Hill, Armagh, was refused leave by Mr Justice Geoghegan to serve short notice on the State requesting that his client's application be heard tomorrow.

Five people died on Monday when a lorry driven by Mr Teggart was involved in a collision with a school bus on the N11 near Arklow. He had been granted bail totalling £40,000 but told the District Court he had been able to raise only £20,900. The District Court refused to vary the order.
