Donegal knocked Meath out of this year's All-Ireland Championship thanks to a hard-earned victory at Croke Park this afternoon.

The beaten Ulster finalists led by four points at half-time, but had to weather a fierce second-half storm to secure their place in the quarter-final with a 1-13 to 0-14 triumph.

It was a bad-tempered match, but Donegal were deserved winners. Christie Toye grabbed the ultimately-decisive goal in the 31st minute when he capitalised on a mix-up in the Meath defence to fire the ball past Cormac Sullivan and into the net.

Meath threatened to take control after the interval, however, but Donegal were able to keep them at bay, though they were helped by some shoddy Meath finishing on occassions.
