BUSHMILLS whiskey distillery in Co Antrim is to be prosecuted after a chemical spill killed thousands of fish, the Ireland Department of Environment has said. A spokesman said summonses expected to be served later this week.

The distillery is beside the River Bush on the north Antrim coast, where fish stocks were devastated by two pollution discharges last summer. The river is renowned for salmon fishing and angling organisations believe it could be well into the next century before it fully recovers.
