A long-running dispute between the Teachers' Union of Ireland and a Vocational Education Committee has broken out again over a teacher's transfer from the VEC-controlled Beech Hill College in Monaghan town to Clones.

The 42-year-old art teacher has twice turned down the move, but the VEC chief executive officer, Mr Larry McCluskey, appears to be insisting on it.

The TUI is threatening strike action if the move is forced on the teacher.

All VEC schools are due to reopen next week after the summer break.
