Detectives to question Kildare kidnap victim tomorrow

Gardaí will tomorrow begin questioning the Co Kildare mother-of-three who was kidnapped from her home two days ago.

Gardaí will tomorrow begin questioning the Co Kildare mother-of-three who was kidnapped from her home two days ago.

Ms Helen Judge (41) was brought to hospital this morning after she found safe this morning by gardaí in a remote wood in the Omeath area of Co Louth more than 100 miles from her home.

Detectives and local gardaí found her at 5 a.m. in Jenkinstown following a two-hour search of the area. They were led to the scene after receiving an anonymous tip-off at around 3 a.m. on a special information line.

The Garda had expressed concern about her health because she is on prescribed medication but it emerged this evening that she was largely unharmed and was being treated for shock.

A Garda spokesman said no ransom had been paid for Mrs Judge's return, even though a male caller had demanded €200,000 in a telephone call to the family home.

Garda spokesman Inspector Ray McHugh said police had still not established a motive for the abduction.

"Our main objective was to reunite Ms Judge with her family safe and well. We've achieved that," he said.

Police believe Ms Judge was taken by force from the home she shares with two of her three sons some time between 11 p.m. on Sunday night and 3 a.m. on Monday morning.
