The Derry home of a mother and nine-year-old son has been targeted by arsonists twice in one night.
The house in Hardy Court in Ballymagroarty was first attacked at around 3.30am when a firework was pushed through the front door's letterbox.
The mother and child escaped by the time firefighters arrived at the property. They were taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
Two hours later they again managed to escape unharmed when material was forced through the letterbox and set alight.
