The Kosovo Ireland Solidarity Group has welcomed a Department of Justice decision to defer deporting the husband of a seriously ill woman.

The department has put a stay on the deportation to Albania of Hyso Dulle until a decision has been made on the application of his wife, Ermira, for leave to stay in Ireland.

The group appealed to Minister for Justice Michael McDowell to allow Mr Dulle to remain in Ireland on humanitarian grounds as his wife is seriously ill with heart disease and arthritis.

The Dulles recently moved from an accommodation hostel in Moycullen, Co Galway, to the Mosney accommodation centre in Co Meath. They are delighted with the decision to allow them to remain for the moment.

Both in their late 50s, they have been living in Ireland for more than two years.
