Motorists and other travellers have been advised to allow for delays in their journeys on one of the busiest bank holiday weekends of the year.

Bus Éireann expects to carry some 200,000 passengers on long-distance and provincial bus services throughout the country over the October bank holiday weekend.

Bus services will operate to normal weekday timetables, with additional buses on all major routes.

Around 250,000 passengers are expected to travel through Dublin airport. More than 1,800 flights will arrive and depart during the October bank holiday weekend, including 120 charter flights to sun destinations that have been added to the normal schedule.
