THE man who plunged to his death from a crane in Galway was distressed over the break up of his marriage, according to local sources.

Mr Francis Miller (31), was estranged from his wife and three children, the youngest of whom was less than a year old. A binman with Galway Corporation, he had been sleeping rough in recent weeks following the separation.

Mr Miller was known to have a drink problem and had appeared in court on drink related offences a number of times. In one incident he reportedly bit a garda's finger during an altercation.
