THE Dun Laoghaire bridge congress will be held in the Victor Hotel from October 11th to 18th, and the Limerick congress will be in the Greenhills Hotel from October 11th to 13th.
The programme of events for Dun Laoghaire is a wine and cheese reception on the first Friday at 7.15 p.m., followed by open mixed pairs; three two session pairs championships major, intermediate A, and B - on Saturday, likewise three team championships on Sunday. Note that those six latter tournaments begin at 1.30 p.m.
Novice competition on Monday night; husband/wife pairs on Tuesday; master/novice on Wednesday; women's and men's pairs on Thursday; 50th anniversary gala pairs on the final Friday followed by a social. There will be open pairs on the first Friday night, and twice daily thereafter and an extra open pairs for A, B, and novice players, starting at 10 a.m., from Monday to the final Friday. Four Contract Bridge Association of Ireland national championships will be decided in the Galway centre on October 26th-28th. The women's (Jackson Cup) and men's (Revington Cup) pairs will be played on Saturday, and the women's (McMenamin Bowl) and men's (Geraldine Trophy) teams on Sunday Monday.
