The trial of Joe O'Reilly, who has been charged with the murder of his wife Rachel, will take place in June 18th of next year.

The case will be held at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin and is expected to last around five to six weeks.

Ms O'Reilly was found dead at her home in Beldaragh just over two years ago.

Her bloodied body was found on the floor of her bedroom by her mother, Rose Callely, after she failed to turn up to collect the younger of her two children at a creche.

A postmortem showed she had died from head wounds inflicted by a blunt instrument.

During the two-year-old investigation, detectives identified a suspect's car and questioned every owner in Ireland of the same model of car, a Fiat Marea saloon.
