The Supreme Court has fixed July 27th for the hearing of an appeal by the Flood tribunal against a High Court decision upholding two challenges by the Fianna Fail TD Mr Liam Lawlor to orders by the tribunal.

Last week's High Court judgment by Mr Justice Kearns, if upheld, will have major implications for the work of the tribunal.

The High Court granted Mr Lawlor's application to quash two orders of the tribunal directing him to appear before tribunal lawyers in private session and answer questions and to swear an affidavit detailing any companies in which he had an interest between 1987 and 1994.

Mr Justice Kearns refused an application by Mr Lawlor to overturn a third tribunal order directing him to discover documents relating to payments made to him by Arlington Securities plc and/or Thomas Gilmartin and further documents regarding Mr Lawlor's bank/building society accounts between 1987 and 1994.
