Czech President Vaclav Havel cut short a visit to Kuwait today and was heading home for health reasons, official Kuwaiti sources said.

He is being taken to the airport in an ambulance and will leave this morning, a Kuwaiti government source said, adding that members of the delegation would stay on to hold scheduled talks.

Mr Havel (64) who has struggled with a series of serious health problems since 1996, suffered chest pains while in Saudi Arabia before reaching Kuwait yesterday, sources in Kuwait said.
