Cyclist killed in Dublin city centre collision

A cyclist has died following a collision in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

A cyclist has died following a collision in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

The crash occurred at Gardiner Street Lower at around 12.10pm. It is understood the man died after colliding with a truck. He was taken to the Mater Hospital, but pronounced dead a short time later.

The Garda at Fitzgibbon Street have begun an investigation into the incident.

Gardiner Street Lower has been closed to traffic between the Sean MacDermott Street and Parnell Street junctions and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

The dead man has not yet been identified but he is believed to have been in his fifties.
