The State's largest Civil Service union is expected to reject as inadequate this year's 2 per cent extra pay award to compensate for inflation. The votes of the 13,000-strong Civil and Public Service Union are being counted later today, writes Padraig Yeates.

The general secretary of the CPSU, Mr Blair Horan, said yesterday the union executive had recommended rejection of the award. If the majority of CPSU members reject the 2 per cent the union will hold a series of ballots for industrial action.
