A man slashed another man across the forehead and nose with a knife after he found he had been in bed with his ex-girlfriend, a court heard yesterday.

Michael Oliver (52), from Gloun North, Schull, pleaded guilty at Cork Circuit Criminal Court to maliciously wounding Mr Bill Fuller at High Street, Drimo league, on August 27th last.

Supt J.P. Twomey said that Oliver had called to the house of his ex-girlfriend, Ms Haylee Gingell, at about 11 a.m. There was an arrangement that he would collect the children each Thursday unless she advised him not to call.

But Ms Gingell was not expecting Oliver and after she let him in he had followed her into her bedroom, where he had found Mr Fuller in bed. Oliver then slashed Mr Fuller with a knife, Supt Twomey said.
