A four-year-old girl, who has been left with a half-inch facial scar following a fall in a petrol service station, has been awarded £15,000 damages in the Circuit Civil Court. Mr Paul Coffey, counsel for Katie McCabe, of Tamarisk Drive, Kilnamanagh, Tallaght, Dublin, told the court she tripped on torn flooring at an Irish Shell station and struck her face against a steel shelf. The Circuit Court president, Mr Justice Smyth, who heard that the girl was two when the accident occurred, said the scar was significant and approved a settlement award by Irish Shell Ltd and Strasburger Enterprises (Ireland) Ltd.
