Controversial plans for a 300-acre "superdump" at Ballynagran, near Rathnew, have been rejected for a third time by Wicklow County Council.
At yesterday's meeting of the county council, members rejected, by 13 votes to nine, the proposal of the county manager, Mr Blaise Treacy, that the county development plan be amended to rezone the townlands of Ballynagran, Coolbeg and Kilcandra for the creation of a landfill site.
