FOR the first time in the history of the State a member of the Cosgrave family will not be running for the Dail.
The Cathaoirleach of the Seanad, Mr Liam Cosgrave, is not entering the fray.
His father and grandfather were heads of government.
In a tribute to the family for their record of "honourable service", Mr Michael O'Kennedy (FF) said the contribution of the State's founding fathers was something that should always be respected and honoured, and he was privileged to acknowledge that in the context of Mr Cosgrave's family.
