Two women yesterday pleaded guilty at Cork Circuit Criminal Court to a series of arson attacks on cars and property in Cork. Caroline Mullane (19) of Burnfort, Mallow, and Grainne Keohane (19) of Kilmacsimon, Bandon, both admitted causing criminal damage to the cars by burning them and pleaded guilty to damaging four cars at Sidney Park, Wellington Road and Gardiner's Hill in Cork last December.

They also pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage by fire to the Mainly Murder Bookshop in Cork city centre and to possessing fire-lighters with intent to cause damage to property at Sidney Park in the city, all last December.

Mullane also pleaded guilty to other charges including causing criminal damage by fire to two cars at Pope's Quay in the city and to causing criminal damage by fire to a house on Pope's Quay and to another house on Dominick Street last October and November.
