Contents of Bewley's cafe for auction

An auction of some of the contents of Bewley's cafe on Westmoreland Street, Dublin, takes place tomorrow

An auction of some of the contents of Bewley's cafe on Westmoreland Street, Dublin, takes place tomorrow. A wide selection of Bewley's memorabilia and trade equipment will go under the hammer.

With almost 450 lots, the auction is open to tradespeople and the public.

Although the auction does not include items of antiquity value such as the cafe's Edwardian furniture, there will be items featuring the Bewley's logo for sale , including plates, cups and trays. The antiquities are being moved to one of the company's hotels

Cól Campbell, managing director of Bewley's, said he had "no idea" how much money the auction would raise. He said he hoped a sizeable amount would be raised from the sale of programmes and trays as the proceeds from these items were to be donated to The Hope Foundation which works with street children in Calcutta.
